When starting a journey to wellbeing, I like to first discuss with my clients how the Physical line sits at the bottom of the pyramid - next to “Fitness.” Why? Because it’s where we start - getting you moving, whether it be for a walk or even stretching. This triggers your brain to release endorphins - these improve our mood, leave us calmer and heightens our self esteem. Therefore, from that physical boost - you now witness the two side lines of the pyramid, taking you to the top. These lines are the Mental and Emotional components. The feel-good responses being sent to your body from exercise, are a major mood lifter - giving you (as we mentioned above), better control over your thoughts, which in turn reinforces movement, as positive behavior. Many people believe they need to be in a good state of mind in order to find the motivation to move ... try reversing this though. Let the movement enhance your mindset.
